Routes to the Certificate
If the candidate has a good standard of general education, together with three years experience of comprehensive occupational hygiene practice, and: |

passes in the four compulsory modules: M101 to M104
passes in a further TWO optional modules from: M201, M202, M203, and S301

Certificate of Competence in an individual subject
This examination is in two parts - Part 1 (a written examination) and Part 2 (an oral examination) and is aimed at establishing competence in the individual subject area.
The following subjects are available under this scheme:
M102 Measurement of Hazardous Substances (including Risk Assessment)
M104 Noise and an Introduction to Vibration
M203 Ergonomics Essentials (including Manual Handling and DSE)
S301 Asbestos and Other Fibres
M302 Measurement and Assessment of Noise in the Workplace
M304 COSHH
The Part 1 examination is exactly the same as that described in the Occupational Hygiene modules.
The Part 2 examination involves an oral examination of approximately 45 minutes’ duration supported by submission of written work in the subject area. Candidates will be requested to submit a report which demonstrates their practical competence in the subject and which should be based on practical work in the subject.
Courses are held at our own training venue opposite Gunwharf Quays, Portsmouth, and we can also deliver them at your preferred location which also offers free Wireless Broadband.
Courses are held throughout the year.
Bespoke courses can be arranged at your preferred time and location without your staff having to be away from the workplace, using our own ‘state of the art’ equipment; we are pleased to discuss ‘in house’ training at your premises or preferred location. In order to comply with BOHS procedure a period of two months is required to set up external courses.
