Paper A

Modules M101-M104, M201-M202, S301, M302-M304 Modules M203

Paper A 60 multi-choice questions to be answered in 90 minutes. Three marks are awarded for a correct answer, one mark deducted for an incorrect answer and no marks awarded or deducted for an abstention.

 

Modules M203

A 2-hour essay-type paper.

Candidates are required to answer three questions from a choice of four.

Paper B

Paper B a 45-minute essay-type paper. Candidates are required to answer one question from a choice of two.

Marking

Approximately 10% of the marks will be awarded on the basis of the quality of the written communication, with the remaining 90% awarded for identification of technical points and evidence of understanding and application of knowledge. Answers should be concise, lucid and grammatically correct (minor grammatical errors and occasional spelling mistakes will be ignored). Candidates with English as a second language will not be given any special consideration.

To obtain a pass it is necessary to obtain a mark of 50% (70% or a credit) in each paper.

The pass mark is 50% (70% for a credit).

Reports

 

Two reports required to demonstrate that two Type 2 surveys have been carried out or attended under supervision.

 

 

 

Pass Marks

To obtain a pass it is necessary to obtain at least 50% in the written part and a pass in the assessment (and for P402 to submit two acceptable reports).

Candidates must pass all elements of the Module within 18 months of the date of passing the first element.

 

For Modules P401 and P403:

 

If candidates have no experience in fibre counting or bulk sample identification then it is advised that they should initially take the relevant course, gain some practical experience in the respective work and then take the examination/assessment at a later date.

Any candidate who has been awarded a certificate for all five proficiency modules (P401-P405) will be deemed to have passed S301 Module ‘Asbestos and Other Fibres’.
